Accepting these terms

These terms cover your use of this website and the masonry and concrete work K&R Newport News Concrete & Masonry does for homeowners in Newport News, VA and the cities around it. By using the site, calling us or sending a request through our contact page, you agree to these terms, so please read them before you do.

If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site. A signed estimate or written contract for your job takes priority over these terms wherever the two differ, because that document is written for your house and your project.

What we offer

We're a masonry contractor in Newport News, VA. Our work includes brick, block, stone, concrete, pavers, chimneys, fireplaces, foundations and retaining walls, as described on our home page and service pages.

Those pages explain the trade in general terms and aren't a promise that a given method fits your job. We only know what your house needs once we've seen it, so the scope of any job is set in your written estimate.

Estimates and pricing

We give free estimates on site, and asking for one puts you under no obligation. An estimate is based on what we can see and measure at the visit, and it stays good for the period written on it.

Masonry often hides problems until the old work comes off, such as rotted framing behind a chimney, a cracked footing or loose brick deeper than the surface shows. If we find something like that, we'll stop, show you and give you a written change in price before we do the extra work, and we won't bill for added work you haven't approved.

Any general information about cost on this site is for planning only and isn't a quote for your job.

Scheduling and cancellation

We set a start date with you once the estimate is accepted. Mortar and concrete need the right weather to cure, so rain, freezing temperatures and heavy wind can push a start date or pause a job, and we'll tell you as soon as we know.

Material delays, permit timing and access problems at the property can move the schedule too. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please call us at (757) 782-8614 as early as you can. If materials were special-ordered or work has already started, you're responsible for those costs and the work completed up to the cancellation, as your contract describes.

Payment

Payment amounts, any deposit and due dates are set out in your written estimate or contract. Unless that document says otherwise, the balance is due when the work is complete.

If a payment is late, we may pause remaining work until the account is brought current. Ownership of materials stays with us until they're paid for, to the extent Virginia law allows.

Our work and warranty disclaimers

We're licensed and fully insured, and we stand behind our workmanship. Any warranty on your job is the one written in your contract, and it covers only what that document says.

Materials such as brick, block, pavers, stone, mortar and fireplace units carry their makers' own warranties, which we'll pass along to you. New masonry and concrete can show small hairline cracks, color differences between batches and some efflorescence, which is a white mineral bloom that often washes out over time. These are normal and aren't defects.

Our warranty doesn't cover damage from settling or movement of the soil we didn't build on, water from gutters or grading outside our scope, misuse, lack of upkeep, later work by others, or storms, flooding and other events beyond our control.

The content on this website is provided as is, for general information. We don't warrant that it's complete, current or free of errors, and it isn't engineering or legal advice for your property.

Limitation of liability

To the extent Virginia law allows, K&R Newport News Concrete & Masonry isn't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, such as lost use of a space or lost income, arising from our work or your use of this site.

Our total liability on any job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Settling a disagreement

If you're unhappy with any part of the job, call us first so we can come out, look at it with you and try to make it right. Most problems get settled that way faster than any other route.

If we can't resolve it together, either of us may bring the matter in the state courts serving Newport News, Virginia, and both sides agree to that location.

Governing law

These terms and any work we do are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to rules that would apply another state's law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted on this page is the one that applies to your use of the site. Changes won't alter a contract you've already signed with us unless we both agree in writing.

Questions about these terms

You can learn more about our crew on our about us page. For questions about these terms or your job, call (757) 782-8614 or use our contact page, and expect a reply within 1 business day.
